Harrah’s Resort SoCal e-pampers for Breast Cancer Awareness

Courage

In case you haven’t noticed, Harrah’s Resort SoCal is extremely dedicated to supporting our San Diego communities. From county-wide volunteer days such as Giving Tuesday to supporting our community’s seniors with Meals on Wheels and many more efforts, we Funner Californians have a soft spot for doing good. October’s breast cancer awareness month is no different. Going “pink” around our property is about more than just pink lights and pink ribbons. The pink ribbon itself represents a calling for us to help those affected by breast cancer and to bring a bit of Funner to their everyday lives. We have once again partnered with Michelle’s Place Cancer Resource Center to pamper deserving patients and give them a bit of rest and relaxation. You may ask, “how exactly do you pamper with spa treatments during a time of social distancing?” We’ll show you!

Packing event

Step 1: Create and send a care package full of love and relaxing spa goodies to every Michelle’s Place guest. “We have secured facial kits for each participant along with a few other treats. We have created (with our friends at Eminence) a protocol sheet and will host a "how-to" facial experience that the guests can follow along with. We can all give ourselves a nice relaxing facial!” says spa manager Gina Layland.

Relax, rejuvenate, recharge.

Step 2: Teach our home-spa guests how to give themselves their very own facial service in the comfort of their own home. “Due to the pandemic, unfortunately we cannot safely hold our event this year. We have, in years past, closed the spa to the public, decorated the spa with flowers, amazing photo backdrops and additional decorative touches. We have had musicians play soothing tunes and offered custom services to these wonderful ladies and gentlemen along with raffles, delicious food, drinks and a gift bag full of goodies for each of our guests. It was heartbreaking for the team and I to come to the realization that we could not host this event this year, it is truly the event we all look forward to every year. We just couldn't let it go so we decided to do the event virtually!” says Layland.

Step 3: Donate to a great cause. We didn’t stop at goodie bags and virtual spa treatments. The Harrah’s Resort SoCal family also held an employee slot tournament and created the Pink Warrior cocktail to benefit Michelle’s Place. Don’t worry, money wasn’t gambled during the tournament. But the proceeds of the tournament and cocktail sales went directly to benefit the Michelle’s Place Cancer Resource Center.
