Harrah’s Resort SoCal makes major donation to San Diego Food Bank
The holidays are always a festive time of the year. Lights, gifts, trees, music and, of course, food. It truly is a merry time of year here in Funner California. But while many are fortunate enough to enjoy a festive holiday dinner, some in our community aren’t as lucky. Harrah’s Resort SoCal believes that everyone deserves the gift of a warm holiday meal. That’s why this holiday season we’ve once again partnered with theSan Diego Food Bank by donating $20,000 dollars to help with our community’s food shortage.
“We’ve been partners with the San Diego Food Bank for six years now. Over the years we’ve held three food drives and five food sorting and packing events” says corporate citizenship and communications manager Sheryl Sebastian. Harrah’s Resort SoCal’s prior 2020 donation of 8,000 pounds of produce and refrigerated items took place this past March at the beginning of the pandemic. “It’s heartbreaking to see how many people are going hungry. And while there’s always been a need, this year with COVID-19 and its impact on our economy, the need is greater than ever before. This donation is helping make a difference in the lives of people in our community.” adds Sebastian.
The six year partnership with the San Diego Food bank has proved to be both vital and rewarding to the organization. “Harrah’s Resort SoCal has been such a tremendous partner of ours and is really instrumental to our success.” says San Diego Food Bank president and CEO Jim Floros. “The donation from Harrah’s Resort SoCal equates to 100,000 meals for people in need! It takes a community to help a community and I commend Harrah’s Resort SoCal for everything they’ve done.”
The holiday season may be over in a few weeks, but our giving season has no end in sight!
