Memorial day is often synonymous with the start of summer, barbeques and an extra day off work. While we certainly love all of those things, we also want to take some time to acknowledge the heroes that make Memorial Day an American holiday.
Harrah’s Resort SoCal is located in North San Diego County, approximately 37 miles from Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton and 44 miles from US Marine Corps Reserve Center. We are always thrilled to welcome the many military members, veterans and their families to our property 365 days a year.
To show our constant commitment and respect for our armed forces, Harrah’s Resort SoCal (and all of the properties in the Caesars Entertainment family) offer a 10% discount to all veterans, active duty military personnel, their spouses and family members when booking their rooms. This offer is always available, with no blackout dates. Simply verify your military status using your id.me digital identification card when checking out and you’ll automatically see your discount applied.
But the thank yous don’t end there. If you sign up for a Total Rewards® membership and show your military ID or DD14, you’ll receive two FREE Buffet vouchers. Take your taste buds around the world with foods from all corners of the earth and bottomless desserts to boot!
Our appreciation isn’t limited to our guests. In addition to welcoming those who serve our country to enjoy our resort, we also encourage retired military personnel to join our team. In 2013 Caesars Entertainment began Enlisting Heroes, a corporate wide initiative aimed at reducing the veteran unemployment rate. The goal has been to hire veterans in all positions throughout the resort. Since the program was introduced, thousands of veterans have been hired company wide. This number is continually growing and we are proud to walk the halls side by side with some of our nation’s bravest men and women.
Our salute to local heroes extends out to our local community. Given the large military presence in our own backyard Harrah’s Resort SoCal has made supporting military and veterans groups an integral part of our community outreach. Over the years our efforts have included financial donations, volunteer work, event sponsorships and much more.
In 2015 alone we donated $10,000 to Workshop for Warriors, a local nonprofit that specializes in education, training and placement of veterans and transitioning servicemen into civilian careers. We also hosted 25 Wounded Warriors and their chosen guests at our May 8 Trace Adkins concert.
So while you’re out grilling your steaks and getting prepped for the fun summer ahead, we encourage you to take a moment to remember what this day is really about.
Tell us in the comments below how you choose to celebrate our American heroes Memorial Day and every day!
