It’s more than art. It’s Culture.
Everyone knows that Harrah’s Resort SoCal is all about fun. From Southern California’s only Swim-up Bar to our exciting Gaming floor, we’re all about the good times. We even reside in Funner, California! But beyond the fun lies our proud Native American heritage. The heritage of The Rincon Band of Luiseño Indians. As a celebration of Native American Heritage Month, we’re thrilled to feature two brilliant Native American artists in our free art gallery exhibit.
Born and raised on New Mexico’s Navajo Reservation, Jeremy Salazar is a contemporary portraiture artist with a bold take on Native American imagery. Although he has no formal art training, Salazar’s work on a canvas medium is representative of his people in the most breathtaking fashion. Salazar aims to contemporize Native America and help represent this group as a people of the times.
A tribal member of the Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe in the Black Hills of South Dakota, LX Lewis is renowned for his work with exotic Manzanita wood. Inspired by the history of his Sioux Nation ancestors, Lewis incorporates the wood’s organic character and gestures into his carvings making for dramatic expressions of his indigenous culture.
Join us every Saturday November 18 - December 2 from 1pm - 6pm to view the inspiring and authentic pieces created by these two Native American artists. Proceeds from art purchases will benefit the California Tribal College!
Located on the second floor of the South Tower.
