Have you heard about the bees? No, not the birds and the bees – the honeybees! The most indispensable farm workers that help the majority of our food grow are dying off. Without bees we wouldn’t have fruit such as oranges, berries or even pumpkins – say goodbye to pumpkin lattes.
Harrah’s Resort Southern California is committed to environmental sustainability. And because we recognize the importance of being responsible stewards of the environment, we are dedicating the entire month of November to celebrating bees.
Here is how we are bringing awareness to our buzzing friends:
Bees Knees
Come try your luck on Saturday, November 19, where you have a chance to win $20,000 in cash! During the day, we will have drawings every 30 minutes from 1pm to 10:30pm where three guests will be chosen to select a jar of local honey. There are prizes associated with each jar and you can win up to $5,000 in free slot play.
And here is the cool part, the jar you select is all yours. Now, this isn’t the typical store bought honey, this is local honey provided by our partner for this project, Temecula Valley Honey Company.
Tempt Your Adult Taste Buds
Come get your drink on — responsibly though — at Spiked. Our mixology experts have created two special cocktails that use honey:
The Full Monte: This delectable drink is a blend of Amaro Montenegro, Dry Curacao, lemon juice, and honey syrup garnished with a cinnamon stick, cloves and a lemon wheel.
Clockwork Orange: A refreshing cocktail crafted with a sweet and tangy blend of Amaro Montenegro, Cynar, Fernet, lemon juice, honey syrup, muddled slices of cucumber and dashes of B.T. Orange
Bite O’ Honey
We all know Fiore is divine and they are well-known for their steaks, our chefs at this top notch restaurant have created something special—a Honey Lavender Panna Cotta. This dessert is not only beautiful to look at, but it’s tasty too. Enjoy the amazing flavor of honey in every bite. Honeycomb and berries accompany this very light mousse accented with a touch of lavender.
Hive Minded
Harrah’s Resort SoCal loves planet Earth and we want to help it stay healthy. We are proud to support the honeybee population by housing our very own hive near the resort! Partnering with local beekeeper Steve Gibbs, we’ll be adopting and caring for 500,000 bees. Not only will we be helping local agriculture bloom and grow, but also we hope to share our bee’s golden goodness with you throughout the resort very soon!
Stop by and visit us this month to check out all these activities or just bone up on the buzz about bees. We’ve gathered some valuable facts about our hardworking harvest helpers and shared the news with you on posters positioned throughout the resort. We hope to see you buzzing about!
